The Greatest Fight Scene in History

What you are about to see is completely unbelievable. Yes, more amazing than any Steve Perry sound alike in a hotel lobby could ever be. This is the greatest fight scene ever. I don't care what movie you want to stack against this, I guarantee you it will lose. This is hands down the greatest thing I have ever seen.

The scene is from a 1985 film called Gymkata. It's about an olympic gymnist who is also a ninja. He has invented a new style of martial arts called Gymkata that combines gymnastics and karate. The movie is NOT a comedy. I repeat, this is not intentionally funny.

Things of note: (1) The sound effects are probably the best I have ever heard. (2) The crowd shots of the angry mob. Awesome. (3) The classic ninja movie rule is in effect here... a crowd of ninjas / villagers / goons can only attack the hero one at a time. Under no circumstances may all of the bad guys attack at the same time. (4) Whenever I get attacked by an angry mob, the first thing I look for is a pommel horse.

Enough talking... enjoy. Please comment with your immediate thoughts. Mine were HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA THIS CAN'T BE REAL LET ME CHECK WIKIPEDIA OKAY IT'S REAL HA HA HA HA HA HA HA.

Dude, I remember this movie (vaguely), but I thought it was kind of cool back then...hey, I was 10 years old...it reminds of the ninja movies we watched at Dub Doubleday's birthday party.

So is it bad if we actually own a copy of Gymkata? I'm not saying I do , of course, just wondering.

I give him a 9.5. He was kind of shaky sticking the landing of his dismount with his foot stuck in the guys crotch and I thought he could have made better use of props, maybe some of these streamers that they use in rhythmic dancing could have been used somehow.
This rivals the movie "Shaolin Soccer" which I recommend you check out. It combines kung fu with the game of soccer, a sure hit if you ask me. The tag line for the movie is "Kick some grass!". You can see the trailer at (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0286112/).
I have to admit I Tivo'ed this when I saw it on TV and watched it in its entirety.

I think it's awfully convient that the there was a medieval pommelhorse just standing by ready to be used in battle.

The star of Gymkata, I believe, is Kurt Thomas, Olympic gymnast, all-american at Indiana State University in, yes, Terre Haute, Indiana...

But he does look like McGyver a little...

Loved this movie when I was in middle school, but I guess there was a reason it was only aired late at night on cable.

Late night on cable huh? I didn't know they showed anything other than...um...nevermind.

I think this guy and Chuck Norris should get together and form Walker Texas Gymnast. And in the pilot episode they could be at the Olympics and some mean thugs in tights try to ruin the games. Since it is at the Olympics Norris could do some crazy cool floor routine while he kicks bad guy butt into the other section where there is a pummel horse. You asked for first reactions Greg...there is my dumb one.
